Overview of the Manicurist Course

The Texas Manicurist Program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for the state licensing exam and a successful career in the nail industry. It covers both theory and practical aspects of nail care, focusing on safety, sanitation, procedures, anatomy, and professional conduct as outlined in the TDLR requirements and Milady’s Nail Technology 8th Edition.

This course will guide students through various nail techniques, including manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, nail extensions, and nail art, while emphasizing industry safety standards.

How the Course Will Be Taught

• Lecture-Based Learning (30%)

Theory classes will provide foundational knowledge in bacteriology, sanitation, nail structure, anatomy, and professional ethics. Instructors will use Milady’s Nail Technology 8th Edition as the primary reference to teach and discuss topics, with supplemental discussions on TDLR laws and safety practices.

• Hands-On Practical Training (60%)

Practical sessions will allow students to apply the techniques learned in theory, such as manicures, pedicures, acrylic applications, gel enhancements, nail extensions, and nail art. Supervised practice will take place in a salon environment, ensuring students gain real-world experience.

• Exam Preparation (10%)

Students will undergo mock practical and written exams that simulate the Texas state board licensing exams. These reviews will cover sanitation, safety, and key nail procedures required for licensure.
